Summary:

RISE is a community-based intervention designed to support older adults at risk of or experiencing elder abuse or self-neglect (EASN) by integrating methods like motivational interviewing and restorative justice. It addresses EASN at multiple levels, involving victims and their social supports. Evaluation shows high feasibility and acceptability, with 94% of referred cases accepting services and significant reductions in re-referral rates to APS. Clients report improvements in stress, worry, quality of life, self-efficacy, and safety knowledge. APS caseworkers find RISE complements their work by addressing long-term needs and involving perpetrators and family members, thus reducing case recurrence.
